I first thought about modern slavery properly when I was in sixth form. I remember watching a video of Libyans who had been trafficked into slavery, and was shocked because I had no idea things like this still went on. I assumed that because slavery is illegal, it no longer persists. Yet I was very wrong, and as I started to work for the Salvation Army as a first responder I began to understand the extent to which human trafficking still exists. All the money raised will go directly and 100% to the Salvation Army and specifically towards their section for victims of modern slavery and trafficking. https://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/modern-slavery
In the Bible, in Deutronomy 10 vs 18, God is described as defending 'the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing'- this to me means that as a Christian, we ought to seek to protect those more vulnerable than us, just as our Heavenly Father intends us to.
Onto the running side- to be honest I always told myself I could never and would never run a marathon. But I don't think we should tell ourselves we 'can't'- the human body is so great! Why not do it?
