Friends of Vellore seek to follow Christ’s example in showing compassion towards those who are vulnerable and marginalised. We work in partnership with Christian Medical College Vellore (south India) to ensure that everyone can receive appropriate healthcare regardless of their ability to pay or their faith.

Story

I am fundraising to fund a palliative care service for low-resourced urban areas in Vellore.

The Low Cost Effective Care Unit is the urban health centre of Christian Medical College Vellore and leads this project while providing primary and secondary care to the urban poor at low cost.

To strengthen this further, the next steps are community based palliative care and cervical cancer screening

A team of medical officer/nurse/clinical psychologist/occupational therapist who will

● Be trained in primary palliative care

● Help to Identify people with one or more chronic illness from the urban population who require Palliative Care

● Plan the holistic management of the patients identified

● Increase awareness about palliative care within the community and thus improve community support.

These guys(my working colleagues) who do not know CMC Vellore, personally, will be selling cakes to boost the monies for FOV, as they did last year.
