Story
I am Abraham George, from the CMC Vellore MBBS batch of 1973.
In April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon MyWay, covering the full 26.2 miles (approximately 42 km) around Hyde Park and central London.(unless I get a place through the ballot) This year, as in previous years,I am aiming to raise £5,000 for the Friends of Vellore's Paediatric Subsidy Fund, which supports vulnerable children and families receiving care at Christian Medical College, Vellore.
The Paediatric Subsidy Fund provides financial help for families who would otherwise struggle to afford essential treatment for their children. Many of these children are seriously ill, and without this support, they might not receive timely or appropriate care. The fund covers inpatient and outpatient treatment, surgeries, and follow-up care, ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial hardship.
CMC Vellore’s paediatric department treats thousands of children every year, from newborns with complex conditions to older children recovering from illness or injury. The need for financial support remains high, especially for families coming from rural or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Every pound raised will go directly towards helping these children receive the best possible medical care, regardless of their ability to pay.
I will be logging my training and progress through Strava, and I encourage you to follow along as I prepare for this marathon challenge.
Your contribution, however small or large, will make a real difference in the life of a child in need.
Thank you for your support.
Please check for updates and photos as I train for the run and share stories from the paediatrics department and the children being helped through your generosity.
