We’re a group of five friends who make a point of meeting up once a year to laugh, reconnect, and remind ourselves that life exists beyond work, parenting, and day-to-day routines. This annual weekend is hugely important to us — it’s precious kid-free time spent reminiscing about years gone by, catching up on what’s new in each other’s lives, and keeping friendships strong despite busy schedules and growing responsibilities.

This year, instead of spending the whole weekend in the pub (tempting as that may be), we’ve decided to do some good while we’re together. We’ll be taking on the Trek26 Jurassic Coast 2026 – 13 miles challenge on 6 June 2026, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society. While Alzheimer’s isn’t a cause that directly touches each of our lives right now, it’s one that affects so many families, and this felt like a meaningful way to turn our annual get-together into something positive.

The 13-mile trek itself isn’t too taxing for us — we’re all pretty fit — but the impact of the fundraising most definitely is. Alzheimer’s Society works tirelessly to create a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They provide vital support for people living with dementia today, while campaigning and funding ground breaking research to ensure dementia is treated as the priority it deserves.
