Fundraising to prevent human disaster in Afghanistan · 17 July 2023

ACAA was established in 2001 by Dr. Nooralhaq Nasimi, who left Afghanistan as a refugee with his young family in 1999 and made the UK his home. The ACAA promotes integration and wellbeing of refugees in the UK, in addition to running humanitarian and human rights projects in Afghanistan itself.

Story

Why we need you

Over 43 years of violent conflict, natural disasters, including drought, and the COVID-19 pandemic have left over 28 million people in Afghanistan in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. With the Taliban taking control of the country, hundreds of thousands of impoverished children and women are now left without access to basic necessities such as food and shelter.

More than 300,000 children face freezing winter conditions that could lead to illness, in the worst cases death, without proper winter clothing and heating, warns ACAA Volunteers in Kabul.

According to Mrs. Zuhal, our representative in Kabul, the situation on the ground under the Taliban regime is the world’s biggest humanitarian disaster.

“The early snow in the northern parts of Afghanistan where we work has impacted children particularly badly and 350 children died recently.

Twelve-year-old Rohina lives in a camp for people forced to flee their homes in Parwan province. She attends ACAA supported community-based education classes. She said, “We are poor and are living in a tent in this deadly cold winter.

“The situation is bleak for children forced to live in camps in places like Parwan province. It is already very cold in this northern province with overnight temperatures as low as minus fifteen. But it will get much colder before March. For thousands of children the winter is a time of grim survival,” added Mrs Zuhal.

ACAA: UK and Afghanistan

ACAA is an award-winning British charity founded in 1999 by Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE, a refugee who came to the UK himself.

ACAA has received a number of prestigious awards such as the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services 2018 and the British Citizens Award.

The organisation has been supporting and empowering refugees in the UK for over 24 years.

ACAA provides free legal advice on housing, employment, welfare systems and immigration, English language classes, Women's empowerment sessions, Saturday School for children, mental health and counselling and mentoring programmes.

ACAA has also supported the most vulnerable and impoverished people inside Afghanistan through launching two Citizens' Advice Centres in Kabul and Pul-e Khumri between 2013 and 2016.

Our Appeal for Afghanistan

Thanks to the support of British people, the ACAA has managed to save and improve the lives of thousands of families in UK since 1999.

We are now seeking your assistance to provide feed children in Afghanistan. We urge you to contribute towards our efforts to provide impoverished children with essential provisions, such as food, clothing and shelter, as they are currently confronting starvation, severe weather conditions, and deadly living conditions.

Your money will be spent to providr 30,000 of the most vulnerable families with Winter and other Emergency Kits. By donating to this life-saving appeal you can provide a family with protective winter clothing, including four children’s sweaters, two adult sweaters, a woman’s winter shawl, two woollen wraps for men, 12 warm winter socks for adults and children and four pairs of woolly winter gloves.

- £50 will contribute towards providing an entire family with warm winter clothing to protect them from the bitter weather.

- £75 Will contribute towards providing an entire family with nourishing food (flour, oil, tea, sugar, rice and other essential items) and warm winter clothing to protect them from the bitter weather.

- £200 Will provide an entire family with nourishing food and warm winter clothing to protect them from the bitter weather.

Last winter, thanks to donors like you, we protected thousands of vulnerable children from extreme cold and hunger. 2022 was a devastating year for the children of Afghanistan. Thousands were displaced due to economic instability and the ongoing conflict, while desperately trying to survive another freezing winter.

By donating to ACAA, you can provide critical care for children in need across Afghanistan who are the most disadvantaged.

You can save lives. We need your generous support!

Please donate to save innocent lives.
