Story
This year Accessible Inclusive Music (AIM) turns 5! The AIM trustees are so proud of what we have achieved in the last few years! Our free online choir has grown developing the musical skills of many children but also their confidence, social connections and wellbeing. We have had members of the choir write their own music for the group, complete musical development qualifications and go on to pursue instrumental lessons. We now also have a young leaders program with our AIM future leaders supporting leadership in choir sessions and sharing their ideas with trustees. Our subsidised instrumental lesson program is growing and we are delighted with the musical progress of participants benefiting from this opportunity.
Recently, we have grown our pool of freelance practitioners, providing mentoring support for students from the University of Leeds interested in experiencing community music making. Alongside working with other local charities who support children who are disabled and have additional needs.
AIM is run by our amazing board of trustees who are deeply passionate about high quality music making opportunities for children who are disabled and have additional needs. By the trustees (happily) volunteering their time it means that the majority of funds raised can fund the highly skilled practitioners who run our choir and instrumental lessons. However, we rely on your donations to cover these costs and grow the capacity of these programmes.
Therefore, this year we would like to raise £555 to celebrate 5 years accessible music making, continue offering our online inclusive choir for free and hopefully expand our online instrumental lesson programme to more children.
We would love it if you could donate £5 for 5 years or if you are able to donate a little bit more this would be used in the following ways:
- £50 would fund one of weekly online choir sessions which currently provides high quality music making for all children up to the age of 18
- £22.50 would fund a weekly 30 minute specialist online instrumental lesson for a young person who is disabled or have additional needs
