Shropshire My Home: Celebrating 75 Years of Support

Fundraising Age UK STW is raising money for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin

Our singing group, Acorn Singers, has created a song called 'Shropshire My Home' to raise funds for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin's 75th anniversary year.

We are celebrating 75 years of supporting local older people. Help us raise £75,000 to combat loneliness and isolation. Your support funds vital services like befriending and social activities. Let’s change how we age—together.

Story

When we heard that Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin was celebrating its 75th anniversary, we wanted to give something back to a charity that has supported older people for many years including myself and everyone in our singing group.

🎵 Our song, ‘Shropshire My Home’

Our song was the brainchild of Roy Driver, one of the Acorn Singers’ long-time members. He reached out to the original songwriter of 'Cornwall My Home', asking if he could tweak some of the lyrics to help raise money. We have been performing the song at events over the past few months, with more gigs already lined up.

💙 How you can help

We’re inviting you to support us by donating. Every pound raised will go towards Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s goal of £75,000 – funding vital services that tackle loneliness and bring joy, friendship and support to older people across the county.

This song is our gift to Shropshire. Your donation can be your gift to its older people.
