Story

12 of us. 24 miles. 3 mountains. All in under 12 hours.

The Commercial team from Acquired, along with our CEO, CFO, and COO, will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 16th July. As part of our Commercial offsite, we will use this time to encourage and support one another, while also raising funds for Charlie's Promise, a charity that is deeply personal to me.

Charlie was from my village, and supporting this charity is my way of honouring his memory, raising awareness, and helping prevent other families from experiencing the same heartbreak.

Charlie was a kind, caring, and fun-loving 17-year-old with big dreams. He had just started an exciting groundkeeping apprenticeship and was passionate about football, aspiring to one day become Head Groundsman at Chelsea FC. Tragically, his life was stolen in a senseless act of knife crime.

In the early hours of 23rd July 2023, Charlie’s family faced the knock no parent ever wants to hear: that he had been stabbed and was fighting for his life. Despite the heroic efforts of paramedics and doctors, Charlie suffered irreversible injuries and passed away two days later.

Charlie was someone who walked away from trouble, a loyal friend, a loving son and brother, and a young man whose potential was just beginning to unfold. His loss is devastating, and his story is a powerful reminder that knife crime can strike alarmingly close to home.
