Story
I was just 17 years old, an immigrant girl trying to find her way, when this centre became my first safe space. I learned to lead here. I developed professional skills—from massage therapy to bookkeeping—that helped shape the woman and business owner I am today. They even supported my family with immigration help, travel costs, and cultural classes. This place built me.
But today, our beloved centre needs rebuilding.
During the pandemic, we experienced a heartbreaking loss—Mrs. H, one of our devoted trustees, passed away while literally serving the charity. She was found sitting on her sofa, counting the petty cash. (she suffered a brain aneurism) That moment will never leave me. Her loyalty has become my legacy. I will not give up on this space—and I’m asking you to join me.
We’re raising £35,000 to restore and revive the facade and ground floor facilities of ACWDC so that we can continue serving women, youth, and families just like mine.
Here’s what your giving will help us do:
-Repair the conference room ceiling, install new flooring throughout the ground, update lighting and electrical.
-Restore the wheelchair-accessible restroom and wet room with a baby-changing station—crucial for mothers, the elderly, and homeless/unhoused young men
-Create a fresh, welcoming 8-seater meeting room and revamp the 16-seater conference space
-Install a new kitchenette equip for all users to have tea, coffee, herbal tea and light refreshments
-Repaint the hallway, restore the staircase, and replace water-damaged doors and walls
-Update our shop front window and signage, giving the centre the visibility, pride, and professional look it deserves
This is more than bricks and paint. This is about:
-Female entrepreneurs hosting client meetings and social media business training
-Young people with learning difficulties receiving real support
-Children attending creative summer camps and screen-free enrichment
-Elderly members accessing cultural, wellness and exercise classes
-And mothers learning financial skills to break cycles of poverty
When you give, you don’t just repair a building—you renew hope for generations.
Please, be the blessing that helps ACWDC rise again—stronger, safer, and ready to serve a changing world.
