Story
This is a cause that is close to our hearts as our colleague Claire unfortunately suffered a stroke 18 months ago, at the young age of 47. She has made an incredible recovery and we are grateful for the support she has received, and want to raise funds to help others who might find themselves in the same position.
Every year, 100,000 people in the UK experience a stroke, and alarmingly, a quarter of these individuals are under the age of 65. That means 25,000 younger people face life-changing challenges in an instant. Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the UK, but its impact goes beyond visible impairments. Many survivors struggle with debilitating fatigue, cognitive difficulties, and personality changes that can affect their ability to return to work or care for their families.
Different Strokes (Trustees) Limited is dedicated to empowering younger stroke survivors to reclaim their lives and overcome these hidden challenges. Through support, advocacy, and community connection, they help survivors rebuild confidence and independence.
On 10 May 2026, Adair Paxton will be participating in the Leeds Half Marathon to raise funds for this vital cause. Our goal is not only to raise funds, but also to promote awareness and support Different Strokes’ programs that make a real difference in the lives of younger stroke survivors.
