Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 29th July I ran the Lakeland 50 - https://lakeland100.com/thelakeland50100/.
50 miles from Dalemain, Penrith to Coniston, via Howtown; Mardale Head; Kentmere; Ambleside; Chapel Stile; Tilberthwaite with c. +3,000m of ascent and descent (it was hilly…)
With a target time of 12 hours, I successfully completed the 50 miles in 11 hours 50 minutes 56 seconds. Success and relief all at the same time.
I ran the Ultra Marathon for the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association [LDSAMRA] - the umbrella body for mountain rescue teams in Cumbria.

As many will know I have a deep passion for the Lake District, from the valleys to fells and the ‘Lakes’ to the sea. The LDSAMRA teams are critical in providing search and rescue operations for those in danger across the Lake District.
Laura has a personal connection with the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs with her late Grandfather Ian and his trusty search dog Prince - http://lakes-searchdogs.org/history-sarda-50-years/. Hopefully one day our dog, Alfie, will be this well trained!
The LDSAMRA teams are funded solely by voluntary contributions and consists of over 400 ‘professional volunteers’ members who give their time to help those in need, whatever the weather, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Initially I was looking to raise £500 [£10 for every mile]. Through the kindness of those who have donated so far we have successfully managed to double this and raise £1,000. Any further donations will be greatly appreciated and will go towards supporting the work of the 12 teams in the region, with every penny counting towards the running of these critical services.
Thanks again for all donations and support.
