Story
In November 2026, I’ll be trekking across the Sahara Desert to raise as much as I can for a truly special charity, The Joshua Tree. Over the course of six days I’ll be taking on miles of sand dunes, rocky plains, scorpions, spiders and coming face to face with my greatest enemy - the sun.
Although it’s sure to be an incredible adventure, every step taken will be to help The Joshua Tree support families affected by something no family should ever experience - childhood cancer. Thousands of children every year are diagnosed with a form of cancer, and The Joshua Tree offers open-ended, essential emotional support, practical support, counselling, play therapy, personal training, bereavement support, holistic therapies and wellbeing to every member of the family, for as long as they need it.
I’m honoured to work for The Joshua Tree, and every day in my role as a Family Support Coordinator, I hear the heartbreaking stories of families affected by a childhood cancer diagnosis and the real toll that this takes. Years of constant worry, stress, pain, sleepless nights, hospital stays, appearance changes, helplessness and heartbreaking news, some of which never goes away. Seeing and hearing what our families experience puts into perspective why charities like The Joshua Tree exist, and how much of a lifeline it can be during a family’s darkest moments.
Every single donation allows families affected by childhood cancer to access support when they need it the most. Thank you for supporting me and The Joshua Tree!
