Story
Hi. Thank you so much for visiting my page.
I’m running the Belfast Marathon on 3rd May in support of Cancer Research UK and wanted to share a little about why this means so much to me.
I’m running in memory of my stepdad Paul, who sadly passed away just over two and a half years ago after battling cancer. I’m also thinking of family members, friends and so many others who have been affected by cancer — including those still fighting it and those we’ve sadly lost. This is my small way of showing support and hopefully contributing, in some small part, to the search for better treatments and a cure.
Running a marathon is something I’ve thought about for years but I’d often put it off because of the time and commitment training requires. Lately though, I’ve realised how important it is not to take our health or ability to move for granted — not everyone gets that choice. That perspective pushed me to finally take on the challenge.
Training through the winter months, bad weather, work and everyday life hasn’t always been easy but remembering why I’m doing this has kept me going. I feel incredibly fortunate to have my health and the chance to do something positive with it.
If you’re able to support the cause, I’d be hugely grateful. Any donation at all, regardless of the amount, would be greatly appreciated. And if you’re not in a position to donate, thank you so much for taking the time to read this — it really does mean a lot.
