Story
Hi! I’m excited to share my journey this summer as I head to Kenya! I’ll be volunteering with the incredible charity Moving Mountains and would love your support.
For two weeks, I’ll be based in Embu, a lively town on the edge of Mount Kenya, where Moving Mountains provides daily meals and essential support for over 200 street children. I’ll help prepare and serve food, visit local schools, run activities and football matches with the kids (they have their own team - the Black Cats!) and assist with renovation projects like painting classrooms and fixing up facilities. I’ll also learn from local teachers and social workers who are working to build brighter futures.
I believe it’s important to see the world through different lens and do what we can to help those who haven’t had the same chances as us. I know this experience will help me grow and hopefully make a small but meaningful difference.
Moving Mountains focuses on long-term change, not just handouts but education, health and community development. They’ve built schools, run feeding programmes and helped countless children break the cycle of poverty. I want to contribute to this mission!
I’m looking to raise as much money as possible, which goes directly towards meals, school supplies, renovations and essential support for children and families. I need to reach my target by 6th July, before I fly out on 12th July 2025. Any amount you can spare would mean so much and every penny goes straight to the charity.
It also ties into part of my DofE Gold Award and I feel really lucky to be doing it through Sixth Form with some of my best mates. More importantly, I hope I can help Moving Mountains make life better for the kids they support.
I promise to share updates and photos so you can see what your generosity has helped make possible. Thank you so much for reading my story - your support means everything!
