I will be running the Brighton Marathon on 12th April 2026 with my best mate Babs, in memory of my beautiful son Roman. Roman sadly passed away on 5th November 2022 aged 2 years 9 months. It’s been 3 years and it still feels so incredibly painful. We miss him so much, no amount of time will ever change that. Our family will always be incomplete, but we carry him in our hearts in everything we do. We knew when Roman was only a few months old that he would never be able to attend a mainstream nursery setting. Petts Wood playgroup is the only provision in Bromley to provide pre-school education for children with special needs from birth to five years. The special needs include physical disabilities, developmental delay, behavioural and social problems that can cause difficulties for children and parents alike. Roman started Petts wood playgroup in September 2021. PWPG is incredible, they are truly amazing people and we are so very grateful to them for their support, care and kindness they gave us. Roman belonged at petts wood play group, he wasn’t seen as a medically complex child with severe development delay, he was seen as Roman, a boy full of character, and he belonged.

Petts Wood playgroup is a small independent Registered Charity and donations are what helps keep the playgroup the incredible place it is. This is why I’m running the marathon to raise money for this amazing place that helped Suzy and Roman during his short life with us. The money raised will help so many children and families that need and truly deserve the help and support.
