Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. We're here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our vision is that fewer people die by suicide.

Story

So........ I have done what I said I would never do again! I have entered a Marathon. The reason - Samaritans are the charity partners for the London Marathon. As a volunteer I felt that I had to do this event to raise money for an amazing cause.

Samaritans are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for people in emotional distress. There are volunteers there to listen to people who need to talk about what they are going through free of judgement and we hope that by listening we reduce the amount of people who die by suicide.

Why Herefordshire Samaritans? Well, every branch is responsible for funding itself through fundraising. Although we are based in Hereford, we support callers from all over the UK. There are 200 branches and every single one is important, and all money raised goes into keeping the centre running.

This is going to be a monumental challenge for me. The last Marathon I got injured at mile 18 and limped to the end in just under 6 hours. i have tried again in 2020 for the Brighton marathon, but got injured again and luckily it was cancelled. But supporting the Samaritans has made me want to try one more time.

Any amount of money that you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
