Story
In January 2023, I received the life-altering diagnosis of recurrent metastatic bowel cancer that had spread to my pelvis. Since then, I have undergone rigorous chemotherapy every fortnight, typically 4-6 hours each time, that have left my body feeling weak and fatigued.
Despite the physical toll, I am determined to use this opportunity with Marathon Swims to help my body get stronger, fight this disease and make a difference for charity. I took part in 2019 and found the event a great fitness challenge which helped me at the time physically and mentally after my initial cancer surgery.
Participating in the Marathon Swims 2024 event is not just a personal challenge; it's an opportunity to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer's Society, Marathon swim's official charity this year. The charity is dedicated to support those affected by dementia and provide hope for the future.
I am grateful for any contribution you can make towards my fundraising goal of £1,000. Your generosity will not only continue to motivate me during the long hours of chemo, training and the event itself but also make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by dementia.
