Luton Council non-Muslim fast for orphans

Adam Kearney - Luton Council is raising money for CAP Foundation
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Myself and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like this, and he held his two fingers together. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5659)

Story

A group of non-Muslim officers and councillors will fast from dawn to sunset on Tuesday 3 March 2026 in support, respect and solidarity with our Muslim colleagues and councillors who are fasting for the month of Ramadan. Our Muslim friends and colleagues will bring food to the town hall in the evening so we can all break our fast together and enjoy each other’s company.

The initiative aims to raise money for an orphanage in Bangladesh. Details below.

THE GUARDIANS | Cap Foundation Orphan Village

Imagine a place where children who’ve lost everything find safety, education and the chance to dream again?

That’s what The Guardians – CAP Foundation Children’s Village will bring to life in Bangladesh. A purpose-built home and school for 100 orphaned children, opening in autumn 2026.

Your donation will help build this sanctuary. Providing beds, classrooms, meals and care for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

The Guardians is a fully state of the art Orphan Village Complex, built by CAP Foundation, with facilities including a school, masjid, Sports Centre, and a Youth Club where the Orphans will acquire apprenticeships when they become teenagers, giving hope for the future. All of this alongside on site therapy and mental health support.

Every penny you give will go directly towards creating this village of hope and transforming young lives for generations to come.

With safeguarding through CCTV and the meticulous screening and training of staff, our donors will get the opportunity for face to face video calls with the orphans they sponsor.

Join me to help build this amazing Village with CAP Foundation today, and help honour and respect the orphans.

Background:

Bangladesh is home to 64 million children, nearly half living in poverty. Over 4.8 million are orphans, many forced into labour as early as age six and denied education, dignity, and safety. Many live rough on the streets, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation.
