Hi All!

I am running the Cambridge Half Marathon for Petals, the baby loss counselling charity. They provide specialist counselling for women, men and couples who have suffered the devastating loss of a pregnancy or death of a baby.

It is a sad reality that in the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 200 babies will be stillborn every year, over 5000 pregnancies will be terminated for medical reasons each year, and 24 babies die shortly after birth every single week.

In light of these statistics, it equates to so many people having to cope with the grief and pain caused by these uncontrollable events and not necessarily have this service available.

My wife Gemma and I have both unfortunately experienced 2 missed miscarriages (one time with twins) in the space of a 12 month period back in 2021-2022. We were fortunate enough to receive counselling with the first, but unfortunately there was no funding in order to facilitate counselling for the 2nd miscarriage. This is where donations are crucial as I believe that each case of loss hurts the same, no matter how far down the line. The work Petals do is amazing and in an ideal world be something that each individual who has experienced loss should be entitled to have access to if needed.

🌸£500 will fund a full counselling package for a bereaved family.
