Adam climbs 15 Mournes in a day for Integrated Education · 21 July 2024

The IEF supports the establishment of new Integrated schools, the growth of existing Integrated schools and those schools seeking to become Integrated through the Transformation process.

Story

I'm doing the Mourne Wall Challenge for Integrated Education!

The Mourne Wall Challenge covers 15 mountain summits, including seven of the highest, with a total elevation across the day of about a third of Everest! This is one of the most challenging mountain hikes in Ireland - it'll be a very early start, and a late finish.

I've hiked a lot of mountains but nothing this gruelling before... And I'm asking for donations towards Integrated Education / towards the spectacle of me destroying myself in the Mournes!

Only 8% of Northern Ireland kids go to integrated schools, where Catholics and Protestants learn together. There is massive demand for more Integrated schooling, which can be a vaccine against sectarianism.

I am a past student of Integrated Education, and for many years I have campaigned for further Integrated Education with the Integrated AlumNI group of past students of Integrated schools, and with the Integrated Education Fund (IEF).

Support is growing - in the last 5 years, parents at 26 schools have voted for their schools to become Integrated. 71% of the public want Integrated Education to be the main model. More and more people see the benefits.

But Integrated AlumNI and the Integrated Education Fund need money to continue this great work.

Integrated Education is practical peacebuilding - and it needs your help!

Any money raised will be split 50-50 between AlumNI and the IEF.

When I'm done, I'll post a video of the trek!
