Wargaming Event

Birmingham Hospice offers specialist palliative and end of life care for those with a terminal illness. Whether at home, in the community or at our hospices, we help people live well, with dignity, and make the most of every moment they have left.

Story

Charity Wargaming Circuit is proud to be running wargaming events across the year using the games we all love to play to help raise money for the wonderful staff at Birmingham Hospice.

When dad eventually got the Birmingham Hospice 18 hours before he passed, they spoke to dad as if he was a human being. Not just some dirt. The staff cared for day for those 18 hours and for those 18 hours, dad was seen as a human being rather than continually falling through the cracks within the NHS/care system. This isn't me bashing the NHS as me & my family are the first to defend it. Its just being treated with dignity and respect is truely something we all deserve and the amazing staff at Birmingham Hospice do that not just for the service user but also for us as a family.

Dad was all about giving & helping others. I guess that it has something to do with growing up in what is now considered a poor/deprived background. During covid times, dad used to buy toothbrushes & toothpaste to donate to the food bins etc so they could be taken to food banks. When the war in Ukraine started, dad again brought toothbrushes & toothpaste so they could be taken over to help the families there.

I got to witness the kindness, the care, the respect & dignity the amazing staff at Birmingham Hospice did for dad. If I can do something good, something productive, something that will help benefit others who their loved ones who need the same kind of help and support as I did, then I've done something good
