Ultra Matathon · 4 May 2025

Whizz Kidz provides young wheelchair users with the equipment and skills they need to live life as independently as possible, at home, at school, at work and beyond.

Story

On May 4th, 2025, we will push ourselves to our limits, taking on a challenge that will test both our mental and physical endurance like never before. We will be completing a double marathon distance run from Amble by the sea to Hartlepool rovers rugby club.

We wanted to set a challenge that truly pushes us while raising money for a cause that means a lot to us. Many of us know someone affected by a disability, and with increasing pressure on the NHS, access to essential mobility equipment is becoming more difficult for young wheelchair users. On top of that, the cost of custom-built power chairs is incredibly high, making them unaffordable for many families.

That’s why we’ve chosen to support Whizz-Kidz—because every child deserves the freedom to enjoy their childhood to the fullest. The services and experiences Whizz-Kidz provides make a life-changing difference for families across the UK who have a disabled young family member.

We would love for you to support our journey—every donation brings us closer to helping these children gain the independence they deserve.

Over 75,000 young people in the UK need to use a wheelchair to be mobile.

Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that meets their needs through local services. We're here for all of them.

Whizz Kidz are the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25 years old. They empower young wheelchair users with the equipment, support, and confidence-building experiences they need to take an active role in society. The Whizz Kidz goal is to create a movement for progress towards a more open and accessible world.
