Story
In June 2024, my Dad was suffering with a persistent UTI. Throughout the summer he went through a whole load of tests that culminated in a biopsy in October 2024. The results identified prostate cancer. Luckily it was identified in its early stages, and since then, he has had surgery to remove his prostate and is now into his road of recovery. He is an inspiration to me in how he has taken everything in his stride and is refusing to let it stop him living his best life.
And I'm using this inspiration to take on some challenges in 2025. The first one is in a couple of days - the Bluetrail Ultra Marathon in Tenerife; the Leeds Marathon in May; and the Windermere Triathlon in July. (I might take some more on later in the year...)
Hopefully this will raise awareness, and encourage people to get tested - you have to ask for a PSA blood test at your doctors, whilst also raising funds for research into curing this disease.

Prostate Cancer Research are dedicated to creating brand new prostate cancer treatments. Prostate cancer is now the most diagnosed cancer in the UK and 11,500 men die from the disease every year. It is estimated that 1 in 8 men will have prostate cancer. People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments, and research is the only way to turn this hope into reality.
Their vision is clear; a world where people are free from the impact of prostate cancer. I’m part of #TeamPCR because I share this vision. Will you help me support their research?
