Story
The biggest killer of men under 50 is suicide. Why? In our privileged modern world, why? And how many suffer in secret silence?
It wasn't always like this, and it isn't like this in pre-modern societies who have less than us. So, what have we lost or forgotten?
I believe men really feeling their feelings, sharing vulnerable connection and learning to support each other is part of the answer.
I believe this kind of brotherhood in the most incredible sense used to be normal and I know it is absolutely possible.
The ManKind Project UK & Ireland is a charity that supports men to wake up to a new way of being as a man amongst men.
I've been involved with them for nearly a decade now, and continue to volunteer as it remains the most impactful thing in my life.
But I haven't always spoken up for fear it would be misunderstood, and I want to change this now so here I am.
I'm running the Richmond 10k, but with a 20kg pack to symbolise the men who silently carried more than they could bear.
If this means anything to you, I invite you to give whatever feels right in support of men's mental health and wellbeing.
