Story

We’re preparing to take on the Thames Half Marathon, a 5.5k swim to raise money for Level Water.

Swimming is much more than a hobby or a sport- it’s a vital life skill. Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident in the water, but for many children with disabilities, access to swimming lessons can be limited.

I work part-time as a swimming teacher alongside working as a Physiotherapist and regularly teach children with SEND on a one-to-one basis. I’ve seen first hand the confidence, independence and joy that swimming can give children with disabilities.

Euan only started swimming in 2025, so taking on a 5.5km river swim is a huge personal challenge for him too! Together, we wanted to do something that pushed us out of our comfort zones while supporting a charity that genuinely changes lives.

Level Water gives children with disabilities the opportunity to learn to swim through specialist one-to-one lessons. Their work helps children build physical strength, confidence, independence and a lifelong love of the water. They also support families, teachers and pools to make swimming more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

With every £15 donation, you’re helping to fund a lesson that could change a child’s life, giving them the skills and confidence to one day take on challenges like this.

Please consider donating. Your support means the world to us and to the children we’re helping!
