Adelina Rusu is raising money for Maidenhead Rowing Club

150 years. 150 km. Three days. One river. · 11 September 2026

The club provides the residents of Maidenhead and its surrounding areas, of all ages from twelve [12] years, including adaptive athletes, the opportunity to learn to row and pursue their passion for our sport, whether their goals are to compete or to enjoy the pleasures of recreational rowing.

Story

150 years. 150 km. One very long row. 🚣‍♀️

This September, I’m taking on the challenge of rowing 150km along the Thames over three days to celebrate 150 years of Maidenhead Rowing Club — with plenty of locks along the way, because apparently rowing wasn’t hard enough already.

From 11–13 September, we’ll set out from Maidenhead for three long days on the river. Our original route has had to change because of current lock restrictions, so the exact course is still being finalised — but the ambition remains the same: 150km to mark 150 years of MRC.

I started rowing through Maidenhead’s Learn to Row program two and a bit years ago, and now row with the Women’s Masters squad, so this challenge is especially meaningful to me. Just to set it in context, a regular training session is approx. 15km - so an average of 50km a day means... Well, you can do the math... 😁🫣

We’re raising funds to help replace the club’s ageing pontoons — the gateway to the river for juniors, beginners, adaptive, recreational and competitive rowers.

If you’d like to sponsor me, I’d be hugely grateful. Every donation will help keep Maidenhead Rowing Club thriving for generations to come.
