On the 11th April 2027, I will set out to complete the most challenging fundraiser I have ever undertaken.

Everest Base Camp sits at 5,364 Metres above sea level. The high altitude reducing the level of oxygen you can breathe to 50%, which makes these treks more arduous and challenging with altitude sickness and exhaustion an ever present threat.

I am undertaking this trek to raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria in honour my Late Wife Tracey Ann Kevern.

Hospice at Home is the only provider of adult hospice services in our area, offering high quality palliative and end of life care to people across West Cumbria. Every penny raised by local people stays within the local community, helping ensure that compassionate, dignified care is available to those who need it most, at one of the hardest times in their lives.

I know their value from personal experience. In April 2025 I lost my Beautiful Wife Tracey.

Tracey was a beautiful soul. Warm hearted, kind and well thought of. She cared for others all her working life as a carer in care homes in Doncaster, before moving North to Whitehaven, and then working at Irish Street Day Centre for a short while before working as a Health Care Assistant on CCU at West Cumberland Hospital. She was an Angel.

Bereft and broken and in the midst of grief, Hospice at Home West Cumbria came to my aid offering me bereavement counselling and holistic therapy.

Thank you Hospice at Home, you helped me find inner peace and purpose. The last 3 years have taken a huge toll on me mentally and physically, but with your help, I am now setting my sights on the trek and building up my fitness so I am ready for April 2027.
