Story

On the 29th August 2026, I will be taking on this challenge by walking 25 miles, from my home in Bournemouth, to the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral, in my city of birth. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis back in 2023 and continue to battle it on a daily. At the time, i felt it took everything I was able to do away from me, it took me down both mentally and physically. I sometimes have to live with a walking stick by my side, and other aids just to deal with flares and pain, and I still have not come to terms with the adjustments my life has had to take. It isn't just Arthritis, its a devastating autoimmune disease that brings so much more with it than just pain.

With the support of my loving Wife, son and wider family and friends, and of course many healthcare professionals, I have learnt to manage and deal with this terrible disease and the effects it has as best as I can.

So, in that thought process, what better way to raise money for a cause thats extremely close to my heart, challenge myself and show RA will not defeat us, than to physically challenge myself to this endurance walk.

RA will forever be a part of me now, but it will not define me!!

If you see me on the challenge day, please give me a wave and help me through it! Even join me for a mile or 2 if you wish!

Please donate whatever you can to support me and help continue to change the lives of all those with RA and JIA in the UK.

It has been 25 years since NRAS Founder, Ailsa Bosworth MBE, launched NRAS. After feeling frustrated with the lack of information and support she had received since her diagnosis with RA, Ailsa knew there were many more people out there who needed help.

NRAS will be celebrating their 25th anniversary in October 2026 and now provide a lifeline for the 450,000 people with RA and the 10,000 children and young people living with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) across the UK. Both RA and JIA are devastating, lifelong autoimmune conditions, currently with no cure.

To celebrate their 25th Anniversary, I will be taking part in their Take on 25 Challenge and taking on a challenge containing the number 25!
