At the core of Adrian's teaching was the creation of safe spaces for individual and collective expression and the exploration of ideas. He also felt a deep compassion for those denied that safety, made to suffer for who they are or what they believe. He was a longtime supporter of Amnesty (among many other charitable organisations) and their work across the world standing up for humanity and human rights.

Recent campaigns include refugee and migrant rights, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, Syrian conflict and LGBTI rights. Amnesty's biggest achievements include outlawing torture, holding war criminals to account and controlling the arms trade.
