Brighton Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

In 2023, I decided to do my biggest challenge yet and I pushed myself to complete a marathon. I'd be lying to say that I was completely happy with my training and time

In fact, mental health problems, moving house and COVID hit me like a truck during my training and I ended up COVID-bed-bound right before this marathon.

I ended up completing it in 6 hours 17 minutes and swore off doing a marathon/running again . I even posted online with the following quote:

So I did it! I completed my first and last marathon. It was definitely a journey to train and then also a bloody journey to get to the finish line...

But that was a bold lie...

As I've booked another marathon, in fact, I've booked many events for this 2025:

- 23rd February - Queen Elizabeth Olympic park Half marathon

- 2nd March - Cambridge half marathon

- 6th April - Brighton marathon

- 6th July - St Neots Olympic length triathlon

And chances are I'll be booking in some more in between.

I'd love to have your support on these races. Either by donating to my fantastic cause, CALM or supporting me in person/virtually when training and completing these challenges.

I'm also documenting my progress on tiktok, which you can find here: https://www.tiktok.com/@adventuresofmattyc?_t=8sclqBRRWm9&_r=1

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a fantastic mental health charity. They have loads of tools and resources to help prevent suicide (specifically amongst us lads) and I'm very excited to be fundraising for them again!

You can find more details about them below:
