In Loving Memory of Marhum Afzal Fazal

Ali Asgar Fazal is raising money for Kijana Kwanza
In memory of Afzal Fazal
Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) is a non-denominational grassroots project based in Moshi, Tanzania that helps children and young people access education, vocational learning and life skills training to prepare them for a future without poverty.

Story

On 21 September 2026, it will be 20 years since our dad, Marhum Afzal Fazal, passed away.

Dad loved sport, being outdoors and, most of all, adventure. He is fondly remembered by his family, friends and teammates for his energy, sense of fun and the way he brought people together. He was the kind of person who enjoyed a challenge and getting stuck into things, so when we were thinking about how to mark 20 years, climbing a mountain seemed like a fitting thing to do.

This September, we’re heading to Poland to take on a climb in the Tatra Mountains in his memory.

Dad was born in Tanzania, and we wanted the challenge to have a purpose beyond just the climb. We’re raising money for Kijana Kwanza (Young People First), a grassroots organisation based in Moshi, Tanzania. They support children and young people through education, vocational training and life-skills programmes, helping them build better opportunities for themselves.

It felt right to support a cause connected to the place Dad came from, while doing something he would probably have enjoyed himself.

If you'd like to support us, we'd really appreciate any donation, big or small. The money will go directly towards Kijana Kwanza and the work they do with young people in Tanzania.
