Cycling Shrewsbury to Barmouth approx 70 miles · 6 June 2025

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to join Carl and Ewan, the father and son team who are representing and raising money for the Pavestone Charities with their attempt cycling from Bromsgrove to Barmouth on the coast of Wales. In a day!

I am joining them at Ford just outside of Shrewsbury for the last 70 miles, representing Buxton Press who work with Pavestone on a number of marketing projects.

Since the start of March this year, I have done 944 miles and spent 73 hours in the saddle (ouch) so the training is going well so far (although my backside would not agree with that!) :-)

They will be spending all day in the saddle, covering 110 miles with almost 8,000ft of climbing, the 6th June is going to be quite a challenge.

We are having to cycle up the Bwlch y Groes mountain pass (Dinas Mawddwy) which is in the top 10 highest cycle climbs in the UK, so it’s a fair challenge and I am not looking forward to that bit as it is uphill for 2.7 miles and a 1 in 4 gradient.

Ewan, will be acting as Carl's pace bike, and hopefully I will be providing some moral support for the second half of the challenge to Ewan and Carl.

With the grateful help of several Builders Merchants offering 'pit stops' along the way, we should be well fuelled up with food and drinks.

TG Builders Merchants, Bridgnorth will be our first stop for breakfast.

Boys & Boden, Welshpool will be on hand for lunch.

And hopefully we’ll get to Huws Gray, Dolgellau before they close for the day, for some Cheesy Chips!!

Then, the last 10 mile push to the finishing line on the Barmouth Promenade.

All the money I raise will go into the Teenage Cancer Trust

If you would like donate to my challenge it will be much appreciate and gratefully received by my chosen Charity, even just a couple of ££ would be much appreciated!!
