Story
A few months ago, Deryn decided that she wanted to do some kind of cycling challenge to raise money for the Primrose chemotherapy unit at Burnley General Hospital where I have been receiving my treatment for almost three years. This is even more poignant now that her dad will also be receiving treatment on this unit for the next 6 months starting this week. Having said this, Deryn has been very clear that she doesn’t want to raise money just for us, but for everyone locally who is having to undergo cancer treatment. Deryn decided that she wanted to cycle to the chemo unit and back but the idea of her riding on the road gives me heart attack, so she is going to ride the equivalent distance (24km) on the Steven Burke track at Barrowford. She has given herself 7 days to do this. Fitting in cycling most days to her already pretty busy schedule won’t be easy and I feel it is important to point out that cycling is not the easiest of challenges for someone with dyspraxia. We are so, so proud of Deryn for wanting to help others, for coming up with this idea on her own and for pushing herself to do something so challenging. Go Deryn!

Your efforts, support and donations make a huge difference for patients; improving the hospital environment, buying state-of-the-art medical equipment, funding research and teaching and helping us to go way beyond the NHS standard. Donors are able to stipulate how they would like their monies to be spent or which area they would like to support.
