Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having decided to massively challenge myself I decided to run the Manchester 10K to raise money for In-FACT (Independent Fetal Anti-Convulsant Trust). Doing the run with me will be my two friends Lyn and Jemma.
The charity was started by two mums whose children were affected after anti convulsant medication continued to be prescribed to them and other mums with epilepsy (without giving any warning) throughout the entirety of their pregnancy. The government regulators withheld the information about the risks as they did not wish to cause ‘unnecessary stress’ and for many years they have denied culpability. It has now become apparent that due to this medical mistake it has sadly led to significant disabilities both physical, mental and development for the children who were subsequently born. Some of these children will require lifelong care.
The charity is massively under resourced and desperately needs funds to help further research, seek legal advice as well as support affected families. It is vital that we continue to campaign for our children’s right to be heard and supported.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am by no means a natural runner, and this is an incredibly hard challenge that I have set myself. However, I am happy to face my fears as I am passionate about raising awareness and much needed support not just for my daughter but for all the amazing children affected.
I am so grateful for any support you might be able to offer all of which will help towards positive change . Thanks so much, Aimee.x
