Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm pretty scared but excited to be given the opportunity to abseil down the brand new hospital block at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. I can confirm that, from looking up at the new block on my daily walks around the hospital site, that I'm pretty sure it's going to feel like a long way down when I'm at the top waiting to step over the edge (that made my legs go funny just writing it 😂).
I've always felt very lucky that we have the amazing NHS in this country, and felt even prouder when I joined the trust in 2022 as part of the Practice Education team. I get to work with some amazing people which makes coming into work everyday a joy.
The hospital has been there for my family and I throughout the years, which I'm sure is the same for a lot of you. For me, this includes the birth of my amazing son in 2019 and most recently caring for my partner, who last year was diagnosed with Marphan Syndrome which lead to him needing open heart surgery to repair his aortic valve. This came as a shock to the whole family. Without the speedy investigations, actions and diagnosis from the staff around the various departments in the Trust he wouldn't have received the referral to Harefield Hospital and the operation in November 2024 that he so urgently needed. The care continues with physio and for that we will be forever grateful.
So I thought an abseil (easy peasy right?), what a great way to raise some money for an amazing Trust. I also get to look at the building everyday and (hopefully) say 'I've abseiled down that'.
Any sponsorship would be amazing, it's going to a great cause; and if you want a laugh, why not come and watch.
