Some of the steepest mountains we climb aren’t made of rock and earth—they are fought silently, in the mind.

We all know someone—a friend, a family member, a colleague, or perhaps even ourselves—who has felt the crushing weight of anxiety, depression, or addiction. When you are in that dark place, just getting out of bed can feel like climbing a mountain with no summit in sight.

Next month, I am taking on a physical mountain for those fighting emotional ones.

I am heading to the Accursed Mountains in the Balkans to hike 100 kilometers over six grueling days. The terrain will be unforgiving, the climbs will be steep, and there will undoubtedly be moments of pure exhaustion.

But I am choosing this struggle to honor the invisible battles so many face every single day. I am dedicating my hike to three incredible organizations that act as lifelines for those who are suffering.
