Story
I am running the Reading Half Marathon in March to raise money for Not A Phase.
Not A Phase is a UK-based trans-led charity that provide free entry to fitness and self defence events across 8 different cities for Trans people. It also runs a monthly 'Transkate' event at Bay Sixty Six skate park in London, which provides a safe place & lessons for those in the LQBTQ+ community & free entry via Not A Phase for Trans Skaters. The money I hope to raise will help provide continued free access for this event.
I recently attended one of these events and, from talking to skaters throughout the night, it was easy to see that Not A Phase do incredible things and is an amazing charity whose work I would love to support.
After hosting Frigay at The Climbing Hangar in Reading for nearly a year, I’ve met many people from the Trans community and have been introduced to this charity by friends who’ve said how much it had helped them.
I have never run a half marathon before and want to make sure I am motivated by a cause that means a lot to me, as well as those close to me. The charity is a smaller one that does great and important work, meaning any donations will make a real impact in their goal of 'uplifting the lives of trans+ adults across the UK.' Any support you can give to this would be greatly appreciated!
