24hr Wild Swim Relay: Shepperton 2025 · 7 June 2025 to 8 June 2025 ·

The challenge is simple. Gather a team of up to 8 swimmers and swim for an hour each, for 24 hours. It really doesn’t matter what your ability is. It’s not a race, no one is being timed or tracked. You swim as much as you want, as fast as you want.

Story

In June, I’ll be swimming in the Shepperton 24-hour relay in aid of Level Water, taking turns swimming for an hour on a 24-hour cycle. I’ll swim for 3 hours in total, including a shift overnight from 12-1am!

Level Water provide 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. Swimming for children with disabilities is the biggest unmet need in sport. The water takes your weight; it’s a true leveller. It relieves pain and offers freedom and independence that many of their children never experience elsewhere.

I have had a lifetime of loving the water- swimming whenever I can in ponds, pools, seas, and rivers, inspired and encouraged from an early age by my grandpa. My grandpa loved swimming in the sea and took us many times. He knew first-hand how important swimming lessons were and always encouraged us to take them seriously- when he was 19 he risked his own life to save a boy from drowning in the sea. Shepperton Lake is just a few miles from my grandparent’s home, so I will be thinking of him throughout and the privilege it is to be able to swim.

Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water. One lesson costs just £15. Please give what you can to support a wonderful cause!
