Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well, having spent years telling my friends and guests the wonderful story of Royal Research Ship Discovery and the great people who have lived and worked aboard, it is now time to add yet another great name to that illustrious group.

On Friday 20 th March 2026, accompanied by some other climbing volunteers from Dundee Heritage Trust , I will be hauled screaming up the main mast then will zip slide cat-like down to the quayside in a projected time of no more than three days.

Now about to celebrate its 125 th birthday, the old ship is having some amazing work done on her- to ensure she lasts another 100 years . This is costly , highly skilled work and Dundee Heritage Trust, volunteers and members of public who donate are all important to what can be achieved- it IS going well, but there is much to be done.

Will you help me to raise money for this terrific cause- can you imagine Dundee without RRS Discovery ?

I am actually REALLY up for the climb and slide- maybe just a few butterflies! However , as the great man Shackleton -who made his first ever Polar voyage on Discovery -once said

"Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all "
