Alex’s RUN UK - 603 miles in 40 days

Running 603 miles in 30 days (the length of the UK as the crow flies) · 8 March 2025
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and now that you're here, you might as well find out a bit more about our story, my proposed run and the amazing charity that is Daddys with Angels.
OUR STORY
Eli our son is very special to us. In fact Eli is known as a rainbow baby, a baby after loss. As some of you may know last year wasn’t easy for me or my wife (Lynnette), and it wouldn’t feel right not to mention this. We say that we have had 3 babies but have only been able to hold 1. The significance to the rainbow is quite telling especially from a Christian perspective. The rainbow is a sign of God's redeeming grace, mercy and his promise.
Our 2 miscarriages will never be forgotten, the pain, hurt and suffering will stay with us. It is something we will never understand. But what I do know, is that God only gives good gifts. Our hurt wasn’t down to him, people often say ‘God’s timing’ or ‘it’s not meant to be’. But actually, God saw our hurt and he gave us Eli and what a wonderful magical surprise he was.
We will be eternally grateful that Lynnette managed to have a wonderful pregnancy. We actually had the radio ‘premier praise’ on during the labour and after the birth. So many nurses and midwives commented on the music and said how peaceful it was. Both me and Lynnette pray this over Eli and the rest of our lives together as a family with whatever lies ahead, PEACE. Gods given peace, a peace that not everyone can understand but is given to those that ask.
MY RUN
I have decided to run 603 miles in 40 days/nights, which coincidently is also the length of the UK as the crows flies. I will be running day and night (in order to cram the miles in) and during the weekends will be competing in several Half Marathons, Marathons and Ultra Marathons around Kent and London. I hope to commence my run on Saturday 8th March 2025 at Battersea Park Half Marathon with the goal to finish on Sunday 6 April when I hope to cross the finish line at London Landmarks Half Marathon (dates yet to be confirmed due to scheduling and recovery days being needed).
Providing things go well and my body and mind hold up, I hope to finish with 1000 miles within 3 months (although this again will be dependant on managing any injuries and scheduling issues).
Please also be aware that on Sunday 6 April at London Landmarks Half Marathon, I will also be running with some amazing support and fellow fund raisers in James, Connal, Kat, Carl, Jamie, Dan, Ian, Oliver and Kenny. So please cheer them on, if you see them on race day and give them your full support!
ABOUT DADDYS WITH ANGELS
“How would I cope if I lost my child?”
It’s a question every good parent has asked themselves. But no one should have to discover the answer. Unfortunately, many will.
Child loss is common - around 25% of pregnancies end in death, either during pregnancy or birth. Understandably, the majority of support focuses on the grieving mother. Dads often get left behind.
This isn’t anyone’s fault. How society has evolved means that many fathers aren’t equipped to process or even acknowledge their trauma.
This is something we are fighting to change.
We exist so that no dad has to suffer alone. Wherever in the world they might be.
If you’re reading this and you’re one of those dads, everything we do is for you. Please just reach out.
Our goal is to help dads find a path through the grief. A path to a new normal. Somewhere where you can learn to breathe again, but still takes into account your experiences and loss.
We hope you never need us. We’re (Daddys with Angels) always here if you do.
