In May 2020 I began to lose weight unintentionally over a period of 3 months. This change was dramatic and very quick but I was working from home during the pandemic so I didn’t think too much of it. During that time I found myself with a number of symptoms alongside this such as headaches, insomnia, light sensitivity, tremors, excessive sweating and a fast heart rate as well as anxiety. They would come and go and I tended to not have them all at once but the symptoms got worse to a point where I went to see a doctor. Turns out I have Graves' disease which is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, leading to an overproduction of thyroid hormones. 

This results in hyperthyroidism, a condition where the thyroid hormones are excessively released into the bloodstream, causing various symptoms like weight loss, rapid heartbeat, and anxiety.

For me this will be a lifelong sitch treated by medication. There is no cure at this time and generally you can live a long healthy life, but still something I have to manage and monitor. Having a healthier diet, working out and staying positive will be the key to keep it under control but the past 3 years have been tricky.
