Sadly, people with a learning disability have long been - and continue to be - discarded, discriminated against, and disproportionately affected by societal stigma, a lack of understanding, and increasingly deep cuts to government funding and social care.

Mencap operates over 700 services, and provides personal support to over 4,000 people each year. They also work with thousands more people and families through our specialist information and advice services, targeted community programmes, advocacy and digital services.
