Story
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Alan on 28th November. He was loved by so many and will leave a huge gap in the lives of his wife, family and friends.
Although over the past 2 years Alan suffered with prostrate cancer, bowel cancer and more recently lung disease, it was his heart that gave up in the end.
The family would like to invite you to a funeral service on Thursday 14th December, 11:20 at West Herts Crematorium WD25 0JS. There will be a small reception held afterwards to celebrate his life at Croxley Bowls club.
Alan shared good humour and a big smile with everyone he met. Even though people often rolled their eyes at his dad jokes.
Alan had many joys in his life bowling, football, singing, gardening, fishing and travelling. Nothing made him happier than his family and particularly his grandchildren - Max and Amy.
Max and Amy have been part of the Sea Cadets for 6 years. It has brought Alan so much pride to see them in their uniforms, create many happy memories, gain new skills, experience different opportunities and make friends. It is for these reasons Alan’s family would like to ask for memorial tributes be made to the local Sea Cadet Charity.
Sea Cadets is a national youth charity, offering a different kind of adventure for 10 to 18 year olds, helping them to launch well in life today. The local unit (TS Renown), based in Croxley, makes use of the canal and volunteer to support local events. At TS Renown they aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, they learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves.
