Alan Lamb Memorial Fundraiser for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation

My Dad, Alan Lamb, was an incredible man.
He was the kindest, most caring, most wonderful human, full of life and stories and passion.
His love of music and people was legendary.
His support for our family and everything we've been through makes the term "above and beyond" seem insufficient. He was always there for everyone, no matter what, selflessly helping and caring and making us feel loved and supported no matter what.
My Dad was amazing.
The world is a lesser place without him.
The Sophie Lancaster Foundation works to teach the importance of tolerance and inclusivity and to celebrate difference, music and individuality. It was set up by Sylvia Lancaster following the senseless murder of her daughter Sophie in 2007, who was beaten to death in a park simply for looking different.
S.O.P.H.I.E. - stamp out prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere. It's such an important message and the charity work to provide educational group-works that will challenge the prejudice and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.
Dad discovered The Sophie Lancaster Foundation through an issue of Kerrang! magazine he bought for me as a teenager. Something really resonated with him and he immediately went and bought t-shirts, hoodies and wristbands for the whole family.
He wore his S.O.P.H.I.E. wristband all the time. Looking back through photos of him, I keep spotting it over the years, proudly on his wrist, my Dad showing the world that he supported and valued diversity and kindness.
Dad wore that wristband right up until the end. He'd taken off everything else, even the Glastonbury wristbands from the month before - yes, my Dad went to Glastonbury despite his cancer diagnosis - but kept showing his support for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation through his last days in hospital.
To myself and my brother Frank, this makes it clear that Dad held this charity and the important work they do very close to his heart.
All donations will be gratefully received by the charity and please feel free to leave a message about Dad and what he meant to you.
He is amazing and deserves to be remembered forever.
- Katty Stardust, Alan’s daughter
