My father lost his battle with cancer, and this experience ignited a passion within me to give back to the community. Volunteering has become my way of honoring his memory, and it is also why I chose to become a councillor.

Recently, my partner's father received a diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is essentially leukemia. This news has been a stark reminder of how urgent the need for support is in our fight against blood cancers. For over 10 years, I have been a proud donor on the DKMS register, but now I am taking an additional step to make a difference.

I am embarking on a personal trek, hiking through Spain—a journey of nearly 505 km in just over three weeks. My goal is to raise £1,000 for DKMS, an organization dedicated to finding donors for those battling blood cancers.
