Story
The Mental Health Foundation is the UK’s charity for everyone’s mental health.
With prevention at the heart of what they do, the Mental Health Foundation aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety in my early 20s and I continue to manage this on an ongoing basis through a mix of medication and other interventions. Running has had a really positive impact on my mental health over the past few years and I’m excited to run my first marathon in my favourite city, Berlin.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve felt more and more strongly about the importance of recognising mental health conditions. I want to make sure that nobody suffers in silence and everyone has access to the support that they need to get better.
A big part of this is raising awareness and enabling people to feel comfortable enough to talk about how feel and reach out to get support. Through vital initiatives like Mental Health Week, the Mental Health Foundation’s work is helping drive these potentially lifesaving conversations.
