Alan's fundraiser for Friends of ANCHOR

Alan Stewart is raising money for Friends of ANCHOR

Brave on the Catwalk 2026 · 14 May 2026

We support people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’, and we fund cutting-edge equipment and research. Every penny makes an impact as our operating costs are covered by Balmoral Group.

My Story

Some of you may know that at the end of 2024 I was diagnosed with and underwent treatment for penile cancer at ARI. Thanks to amazing work and care from the staff at ARI, my tumor was successfully removed and in April 2025, I was given the great news that they has removed all of the cancerous cells.

The unwavering support of my family, friends, work colleagues, UCAN and NHS staff has played an invaluable role in my recovery. My cancer is now in remission and I am continually grateful for the on going support.

Thankfully I never had to use the Anchor unit for treatments as no chemotherapy was required but knew they were there for support if I ever needed them. I have seen how much support they have given to other patients and their families.

Taking Part in BRAVE

During a football hospitality I attended last year, I was chatting to four lads who had previously been part of Brave and they encouraged me to apply for this year's Brave event. This, along with some gentle persuasion from my family, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and get involved.

So, on the 14th and 15th of May, I will be taking to the catwalk as part of the BRAVE 2026 Show. This event supports Friends of Anchor, a North-east Scotland charity that provides essential care, support, and life-saving research for cancer patients.

All funds raised from this event will go directly to Friends of Anchor, helping to support those whose lives are affected by cancer.

How You Can Help

Every donation, no matter how large or small, will make a genuine difference. Your support will help ensure that more people receive the care, treatment, and support they require.

A Personal Recommendation

My own diagnosis came as a complete shock. Penile cancer is very rare and I would strongly encourage all men, no matter what age, should they be concerned or feel that they may be displaying any unusual symptoms to get checked out as soon as possible.
