MDUK does incredible work supporting families affected by muscular dystrophy and funding research for potentially life-changing treatments. Their efforts are invaluable to families like mine, who are currently navigating through an incredibly tough time. Last year, our youngest son Dexter received the devastating diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) at just 2 and a half years old.

This diagnosis has turned our world upside down, and we are now facing challenges we never imagined. The support from charities like MDUK can be a beacon of hope for families like mine, providing not only essential resources and guidance but also a sense of community and understanding. They fund critical research that brings us closer to finding effective treatments and, hopefully, a cure for muscular dystrophy.

Its so important to me to spread awareness because many people are not aware of muscular dystrophy and its devastating impact. Dexter's diagnosis came out of nowhere and was completely unexpected. Muscular Dystrophy was something I had never heard of so by spreading awareness, I hope to educate others about this awful disease, what to look out for, and the urgent need for research and support.

Dexter's diagnosis has made us acutely aware of the importance of this research and the need for continued support for families affected by muscular dystrophy. We are deeply grateful for the work MDUK does and the difference it makes in the lives of so many families.

Your donations and support can help us fight for Dexter and everyone else affected by this debilitating disease. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Remember, time is muscle 💪🏻.

DMD is a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness and wasting, and it is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. It is caused by a mutation on the dystrophin gene, which is crucial for protecting muscles. Without dystrophin, muscles are easily damaged, leading to weakened strength and function, eventually affecting all muscles, including the heart and lungs. DMD almost always affects boys and is typically diagnosed in childhood between the ages of three and six.
