Story
Over recent years I have discovered that running is good for me in a number of ways. From a jog round the park with my dog, to a weekly 5k Parkrun, to a half, full or ultra marathon, I have pushed myself way beyond what I thought I was capable of.
I also benefit from having a challenge to aim for, it keeps me more focussed and consistent in training.
One of my church members, Elizabeth, in her 90s, is living with Motor Neurones Disease. It has taken away her ability to speak, bite, chew and week by week the impact of the disease is felt in another part of Elizabeth's body and the symptoms deteriorate further.
The inspiration I get from witnessing Elizabeth's resilience, her inner strength, her faith, her love for others, her appreciation of the little things - will be what keeps me going on this 100k (60miles) run along the Thames Path.
So far my longest run has been 50k and I am training hard to give myself the best chance of being well prepared.
I will keep you regularly updated here of my progress.
Let's raise some money for the MNDA and pray that a breakthrough may happen and a cure may be found.
Thank you for your support.
Alan
