Story
I am raising money for British Heart Foundation, a cause very close to mine and my family’s hearts.
Two years ago to the day, two days after celebrating my sister’s wedding on an island in Greece, my dad, Nick, suffered a heart attack that rocked our worlds.
After being flown from Skopelos to Athens by medical plane for emergency surgery in the Greek capital, he spent several days in intensive care before further days in hospital. Fortunately after many days by his side, we managed to fly him back to the UK and get him home. The story didn’t end there though as he suffered a further heart attack when back in England.
Fortunately following brilliant care, largely down to the work of British Heart Foundation, and their incredible research he is now okay. But we are well aware that not everyone is so lucky.
Life has slowed down for Dad (although those that know him well will know this is almost impossible), and I felt it was now the right time to do something to reflect how far he has come and show how much he means to our family.
He has done everything for me throughout my life, including feeding me thousands of cricket balls as I thought I was good at one point (!), and although I can barely run a bath, I’m going to run the London Marathon to raise vital funds for British Heart Foundation so they can continue their amazing work and hopefully help other families be as lucky as ours.
Any donation, however big or small, is massively appreciated, and I’m really not sure what I’ve let myself in for but I’ll tackle this head on just as he did.
Thanks for reading.
Cliffe xx
